Tituba
Africanus World

The first Salem witch to confess and household slave to the Parris
family, Tituba vividly described supernatural apparitions and denounced
community members, resulting in many being arrested and ultimately
executed. Charged with consorting with the Devil, but not indicted,
Tituba disappeared from history. Reclaiming her place now, she is
audacious and adamant as she demystifies how others have cast her and
tells her story. Winsome Pinnock’s insightful solo play creates a new,
stranger and perhaps truer history, which invites Tituba’s audience to
confront the horrors of the past with wit, humour and compassion.
