Forging the Swords

Beijing Central Academy of Drama (China)

Adapted from Lu Xun's novel, Forging the Swords tells the story of a naturally kind-hearted child, who is suddenly entrusted with the monumental task of avenging his father's murder. Two swords are wielded in the name of peace, yet result in further bloodshed. Incorporating elements from the ancient Chinese collection of supernatural tales the play poses thought-provoking philosophical questions of humankind. Where will our obsessions ultimately lead us? Is the culmination of revenge truly freedom, or is it an endless void?
