Joe Hill: The Man Who Never Died
The Joe Hill Project with Joey Shaw (New York, USA)
‘American labour icon!? Ridiculous. I’m a wharf-rat Swede and a
songster. Well, Utah heard enough of my ranting, framed me for murder,
had me executed. But I made up my mind not to die, as the song goes…’
This new solo show from writer, composer, actor and musician Joseph Shaw
inhabits the ghost of early 20th-century union activist and songwriter
Joe Hill, immortalised in the protest song of the same name. Songs and
readings from Hill’s letters offer glimpses of his fascinating life.
