The Elephant in the Room

PolyXo (UK)

A new play. Performed by Faith Abongo.Love in the twenty-first century is an eclectic ideology and culmination of dreamy, programmed constructs. A concocted, conditional fairy-tale embedded deeply in the phenomena of current social complexities. Based on externalised fantasy, we idealise what and who our partners should be. The love they should provide. The expectations of what our unions should yield. Largely, contemporary love is based on hazy perspectives that doesn’t reflect truth: it is an elusive perceived experience that deletes the intricate dynamics which comprise realistic human experience and exchange. When the curtains drop, the illusions become a bitter unpalatable truth.
