The Santa Ana
Crossed Wires (UK)
Is a strong wind all it takes to tip people over the edge? This
multimedia thriller is inspired by Joan Didion’s essay on the Santa Ana.
A multiplicity of characters are thrown into turmoil by these winds,
from an oil magnate in fated pursuit of profit to a disaffected wife
with murderous desires. As suicide rates increase and forest fires rage,
this new play explores the simultaneous parallel decay of our
environment and our mental health. Live videography and electronic score
accompany this descent into disorder, as tensions rise to a climactic
sensory and emotional overspill.
