Green Snake
National Theatre of China
A contemporary stage adaptation of Lillian Lee’s acclaimed novel based on the legend of the White Snake, produced by the National Theatre of China and directed by Tian Qinxin. The story follows two serpent spirits who take on human form to seek love and freedom in the mortal world. While one pursues a conventional human life through marriage, the other is more sensual and rebellious. Their intertwined fates lead to betrayal, sacrifice, and an epic confrontation. Blending myth, passion, and psychological depth, Green Snake explores love, identity, and the cost of becoming human in a visually-striking drama.
