Persian Carpet
Newspaper Theatre Company (Dubai, UAE)
In a traditional Iranian family, a valuable carpet is mysteriously
burned. Before their father returns home, the siblings try to hide what
has happened and decide how to respond. Though he never appears on
stage, the father’s presence dominates the house, shaping every reaction
through fear. In his absence, the eldest son begins to take his place,
reproducing the same authority within the family. As tension grows, the
burned Persian carpet becomes more than a damaged object, revealing a
household shaped by silence, fear, and inherited traditions.
